You can safely check a few things before calling: confirm the keypad has fresh batteries, confirm the breaker feeding the gate opener is on, and confirm the keypad backlight comes on. If the backlight comes on and the gate still won’t move, that’s a signal problem or a receiver problem, and those need a technician with a meter and a pairing procedure.

Where DIY goes wrong on LiftMaster units is the pairing sequence. Security+ 2.0 pairing requires precise timing between the learn button and the keypad entry. Get it wrong and you can erase the codes already stored, and now you have a gate that doesn’t answer anyone. Intercom work involves low-voltage wiring at the relay and telephone entry module, and wiring a relay backwards can burn out the board instantly.
